Welcome to the Fraudian Slip, the Identity Theft Resource Center’s (ITRC) podcast, where we talk about all things identity compromise, crime and fraud that impact people and businesses. Listen on Apple, Google, Spotify, SoundCloud, Audible and Amazon now. In this month’s episode, we discuss identity crime changes with one of our own.

“Progress is impossible without change; and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” George Bernard Shaw wrote that when he wasn’t busy writing plays.

We’ve been busy noticing a lot of changes lately at the ITRC. The volume and velocity of identity crimes. The depth and breadth of the impacts on victims. The method and the madness behind the crimes. While the ITRC publishes a lot of information about identity crimes and crime victims, we don’t always slow down to talk about our findings. Today, that’s exactly what we’re going to do.

Here to talk about change is the ITRC’s CEO Eva Velasquez and our seldom-heard, but always insightful Chief Victims Officer, Mona Terry

We talked with Mona Terry and Eva Velasquez about the following:

  • What’s got your spidey sense twitching these days?
  • We share a lot of stats and analysis. Can you share a victim’s story that grabbed your attention and illustrates the trends we’re seeing?
  • What’s the most over-hyped risk?
  • What’s the most underappreciated risk?
  • How is our advice changing?
